The Adamo Demolition Company, part of Adamo Group, has been a leader in the demolition industry for more than 60 years. Since 1964, our company has revolved around dedication, commitment, knowledge, and expereince, which allows us to thrive within every one of our projects.
Founded by John T. Adamo Sr., our company has evolved from a small, family-run demolition company into a national powerhouse. Even as we’ve expanded our roots across the United States and Canada, our roots remain firmly planted in Detroit.
Adamo has been shaped by generations of leadership—first John T. Adamo Sr., then John T. Adamo Jr., and today Richard M. Adamo. While the company has evolved over the past six decades, the values it was founded on remain unchanged. Integrity has always come first. Every client is treated with the same level of commitment and respect, regardless of project size. We believe lasting success is built by investing in loyal, dedicated employees and providing them with the tools, resources, support, training, and safety culture that they need to perform at their best.

Foundation
Adamo Wrecking Co. founded by John T. Adamo Sr.
Adamo joins the NDA as a charter and founding member.
Adamo Wrecking Co. v. United States, which challenged the Clean Air Act and the standards. Adamo won, which influenced changes to environmental regulations and including work practice standards. This landmark case was later formalized in the Clean Air Act Amendments 1977.
Adamo establishes its new home on East 7 Mile road.
Growth
Completed Dodge Main, the largest industrial demolition project awarded to a single contractor at the time, earning national recognition and a Wall Street Journal cover feature.
Adamo completed the demolition of Detroit's historic Uniroyal Tire Plant, one of the city's most recognizable industrial landmarks along the Detroit River.
John T. Adamo Jr. assumes responsibilities as CEO and Richard M. Adamo as President of Adamo.
Adamo renamed to Adamo Group reflecting its expanded capabilities.
Demolished the existing water treatment plant while excavating 300,000 sq. ft. of underground reservoirs and removing 400,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil.
Demolished the Davey Terminal, Marriott Hotel, adjacent structures, tarmac, and runway areas. Removed 522,000 sq. ft. of buildings and recycled over 100,000 tons of material for on-site reuse.
John T. Adamo Sr. inducted into the Michigan Hall of Fame.
Completed demolition and environmental remediation of the historic Detroit Henry and Edsel Ford auditorium.
National Recognition
Adamo Group celebrates 50 years of industry leadership and trusted performance.
Richard Adamo assumes all corporate responsibilities as President of Adamo group.
Adamo Group implodes the Georgia Dome and Silverdome, two historic monuments in the sports industry.
Adamo award World Demolition Summit award for contract project over $1,000,000.

John T. Adamo Sr., John T. Adamo Jr., and Denise Danneels elected into the NDA Hall of Fame in the inaugural class.
Adamo dedicates piece of art to John T. Adamo Sr. and John T. Adamo Jr. called “The Path of Life” in Riverview Park, Detroit.
John T. Adamo Sr. honored by receiving the NDA lifetime achievement award for his contribution to the association and demolition industry.
Late 2025
Adamo tears down 8000th house in Detroit.
2026
Adamo becomes the first in the world with the Volvo E950 High Reach.
