MGM Grand Detroit Casino – Demolition of Michigan Bell Telephone
Adamo demolished the former 200,000 square foot, three-story Ameritech Building meeting an aggressive three week schedule. The work was carried out in restricted space and included the removal of a four foot thick concrete foundation mat 15’ below grade.
A fleet of 14 pieces of equipment working 24 hours per day, 7 days per week removed 32,000 cubic feet of concrete for recycling. The project was completed in 14 days, one week ahead of schedule.
Adamo Group was contracted in 1999 to demolish five commercial structures to facilitate the construction of the new MGM Grand Casino.
Project statistics: 6,160 man hours, zero lost time worker injures.
The project included asbestos abatement and universal waste remediation.
Adamo completed the project August 29, 1999, ahead of schedule and within budget.
