Adamo Group began work removing the Georgia Dome in Atlanta Georgia this summer. The Georgia Dome was originally built beginning in 1989 and is the only venue to have hosted the Olympics, Super Bowl and NCAA men’s basketball Final Four. The Georgia Dome was superseded by Mercedes-Benz stadium earlier this year.
The Adamo Group expects the demolition to last into early 2018. On the 20th of November the building is slated for implosion, after which the remainder of materials will be moved off site. It is expected that 97 percent of the materials removed from the Dome will be recycled or reused.
